What do you think?

My Etsy Bloggers Team has asked what business goals we have for 2011 and I'm torn. My first inclination was to say I want to be the "scrubbie queen" of Etsy, but I can't let go of wanting to really promote the pine needle baskets.
Certainly, the nylon net scrubbies are great sellers: they're practical, inexpensive, and kind of cute. You can see two of the apple scrubbies here with a small basket.
But if you check out the second picture, I wonder if you agree with me that the baskets are a greater art form. Even though they are practical, they are pricey, and far fewer folks know about this type of basket.
Which are you more likely to order? Have you tried the scrubbies? Do you know about pine needle art? Any ideas or thoughts would truly be appreciated!

I love the scrubbies and the baskets! I would be more likely to purchase the the scrubbies, just because of economics. You will need to educate the public about the baskets and that takes a while. So, my suggestions:
1) Be the scrubbie Queen!
2) Stick with the baskets too, but go slow and keep plodding along

Art is not loved by everyone, so make the scrubbies your bread and butter!

Thanks Rita! Bread and butter certainly are very important!

I really think it's a great idea to have both. One of my goals for 2011 is to add more price points to my shop. With your scrubbies AND baskets...you have something for everyone :)

Well, I have bought your scrubbies (and need more) so I can understand why they are so popular. They are great! As far as your baskets, I would love to order and maybe even learn to make some. I am intrigued by them. I can't afford to buy now, but I am sure that someone can! I say keep both, variety is the spice of life. And pairing the scrubbies with small baskets is just brilliant :)

why don't you put the scrubbies in the basket, and link to a pine needle basket inside the description? Is that ok to do? {:-D

I agree with everyone on keeping both. Maybe just keep fewer of the baskets on hand & promote as custom or made to order...and Storybeader's idea of the link within is great...and allowed since it is your own shop :)

I agree with everyone's comments. I think it is also smart that you have paired scrubbies with baskets.

I just love your baskets! Keep making them. Maybe Etsy is not the right place for making great sales with them. I would try doing shows with them, wear you can talk about your craft skill and maybe demonstrate it also. Peole will buy more once you educate them a little.
