Down to Five Days

and there isn't going to be enough time!  I'm sure I'll still be finishing set up and even an item or two on Friday morning, the day of the sale.  Today the elephant and five double scrubbies were completed.  The only complication, and a pleasant one at that, was that three orders came in, so that takes away several items and there will be packing and shipping tomorrow.  So, in addition to that, my goals are more double scrubbies , beginning the tagging, at whipping up a new hat.

Here's one of the items that sold today.  There won't be time to remake these!!

C.........reative Baskets

Several years ago, I attempted to take basket weaving lessons from a nearby teacher that does beautiful work. Even though I seem to have no trouble with the coiling technique used in pine needle basketry, I found weaving to be too much of a challenge. Not only do you need strong hands, but I could not get my mind around the over-under concept which at first seems so easy. So it's always a treat to find superb woven work, and in this case, creative as well.

Juliana, whose work and web site may be found through her blog at http://handwovenlife.blogspot.com , has cleverly woven a wooden spoon into her spoon basket and created these lovely woven angels. Also, her prices are very reasonable.

N.........ot to be outdone, Camille chooses a basket!

Since Oscar chose his favorite basket, Camille just had to chose hers. She sat in a smaller one to admire this basket with an intricate lid. Swirling hexagons with teneriffe designs surround a handle of natural pine needle sheaths.
She hasn't decided what to put in it yet, but she's working on it!

O.........scar's golf game gets rained out!

It's been raining for many days here in Wisconsin, and although we've been lucky to have missed the terrible storms, the weather has played havoc with Oscar's golf game! So he decided instead to show his very favorite basket (to date). I have to admit, it's mine as well. I love the teneriffe designs in the center! It is made from long leaf pine needles which are coiled around a series of wire shapes. The tenerife designs in the shapes and the stitching on the basket are done with natual raffia. It is an original design basket that measures 9"x8"x2". There is room inside for both him and Camille. He'll be back later in the week when he can tee off again!

C.........rafting in a winer blast

Just had to think spring in 25 below zero wind chills here today. Here are the new darlings...pink and white long eared bunnies in one of my pine needle baskets on a soft white doily. I plan to make the bunnies in many colors with doilies to match.. The basket cannot be equaled. It is an original design, one-of-a-kind creation that took almost 35 hours to make, coiling long leaf pine needles and sewing intricate designs with natural raffia. The handle is the hardest part as wire is inserted in the center of the coils to give it stability. The bunnies are on my etsy shop and the basket will be soon. http://peacoxcreations.etsy.com
